In Ukraine started the campaign to support Belarusian political prisoners (video)

26.01.2012

The international Centre “Collaboration without borders” has initiated  it. Famous Ukrainians will record video appeals in support of Belarusian political prisoners.

The former Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus Roman Bessmertny has become  the first participant. He has supported Andrei Sannikau, Zmitser Dashkevich, Zmitser Bandarenka and other Belarusian political prisoners in his appeal.

As Ihor Huz, the coordinator of the Center “Collaboration without borders” said, the organization hopes that his campaign will activate ordinary Ukrainians to support Belarusian political prisoners.

Huz: “We hope that after watching the video, the Ukrainians will be interested namely, for which was sentenced this or another Belarusian politician or activist, about which is mentioned in the video appeals. I think that after watching the film some Ukrainians will want to somehow help these political prisoner, for instance to write letters to them. Campaign for Belarusian political prisoners constantly was held in Europe. In this sense, Ukraine is not active. This is certainly due to the current lack of democracy in Ukraine itself. But if in prison still we find our old friends, such as Zmitser Dashkiewich, we cannot stay away from their support in the frame of the opportunities that we have.”

Addresses that can be used to send  letters to Belarusian political prisoners will be placed at the end of every video appeal.
