NGOs and political parties demand from Poland explainains about Belarusian political refugees’ cases24.05.2012
On May 24th an application was submitted to the Office for Foreigners in Warsaw. It was initiated by the organizations, Center “Collaboration without borders”, “European Belarus”, “Young Front”, “Belarusian Christian Democracy” and “Alliance for Democracy in Belarus”. Representatives of these organizations concerned that Belarusians Andrei Pyzhik and Valeri Gritsuk may not be considered as political refugees by the Polish side. The office is being considering their cases for many years. However, it has not still come to the conclusion.
In addition, the Belarussian activists also want to meet with the manager of the office to clarify issues of Andrei Pyzhik and Valeri Gritsuk. Belarusians do not exclude that in the cases of Pyzhik and Gritsuk, Polish authorities admitted violation and abusive practice.
In 2006 the former criminal investigator from Zhodino, Andrej Pyzhik refused to fabricate a case against Alexander Komarov, the head of the association of war veterans”Defenders of the Motherland”. He was forced to give up his career and leave the country.
Valery Gritsuk – social activist and former member of Council of Pervomaiskyi District of Minsk from “BPF party (Belarusian People’s Front)”. In 2002 he was forced to move to Poland.
