Ukrainians in Belarus strengthens cooperation with their historical homeland (photo)


On September 25, in Ukrainian city of Lutsk there was signed an agreement on cooperation between the Ukrainian diaspora in Belarus, “Ukrainian House”, and the Ukrainian Center “Collaboration without borders”.

From the Ukrainian part, the agreement was signed by the Head of the Center “Collaboration without borders”, the Deputy of Volyn’ regional council, Igor Guz’.  From Belarusian part, Deputy Head of “Ukrainian House” Dmitry Kisel’ set his signature.

Also the meeting was attended by Deputy Head of the “Ukrainian House” Victor Misiyuk and authority of the Center “Collaboration without borders”.

The partners agreed to hold in December a joint conference entitled “Ukrainians in Brest region – 20 years of independence of Ukraine”. Also they discussed the internal political situations in the two countries and agreed to establish “Brest initiative” in Ukraine – a group of people who will help Ukrainians of Brest region.

In addition, representatives of organizations will seek recovery courses in the Ukrainian higher educational establishments for Ukrainians who live in Belarus. Until recently, 10 students from Belarus have been learning free of charge within the program in support Ukrainians abroad. But this year, such assistance to the Ukrainian Diaspora has been discontinued.
